Sr. Process Control Engineer (MACS)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Participates in Advanced Process Control (APC) projects and service. Designs, configures, commissions and maintains APC solutions for pulp and paper processes. Provides expert consulting services to optimize customer’s process performance. Provides expert training on Capstone products and applications for customer’s engineers and operators. The candidate is expected to possess the ability to analyze process data to assess control performance in order to troubleshoot process and control problems.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in APC projects and service at customer sites.
  • Utilize Capstone’s MACS and PARCview software to design, configure, tune, commission, and maintain advanced process control solutions.
  • Recommend control modifications and operational changes to maximize mill performance.
  • Coordinate activities with customer staff and provide APC training.
  • Analyze process and control data using Capstone’s software and other tools.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of best practices for the MACS group.
  • Contribute to the development of technologies and APC applications.
  • Generates monthly reports to summarize application performance and ongoing service activities.
  • Generates documentation and training material that clearly describes the modifications made to APC applications and the functionality of the applications.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers demonstrating a high level of confidentiality and respect.

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical, Pulp and Paper, or Bioresource Engineering. Master’s degree, PhD, or process control specialization an asset.
  • 5-7 years in advanced process control in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Model predictive control and real time optimization experience an asset.
  • Process performance analysis, troubleshooting and optimization.

  • Distributed control systems and plant information systems.

Regional Sales Manager - UMW Region (dataPARC)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Seasoned technical sales engineer that will call on existing and prospective customers in the defined territory. The position is a blend between an account manager, sales representative and technical sales engineer. Applicants should be extremely self-motivated with ability to prospect potential customers, manage day to day sales process for new and existing customers, manage existing customers, coordinate & lead presentations and demos, develop proposals and close sales.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop market need for dataPARC software products and services by calling on all existing and prospective customers in the defined territory.
  • Reach out to existing customers and prospects through emails, cold-calling and networking.
  • Perform presentations and demonstrations to prospective customers promoting the value of the dataPARC product for their business needs.
  • Answer commercial & technical questions as they arise in the sales process. Lean on sales management and technical support when unsure.
  • Develop software and professional services proposals for new and existing customers.
  • Manage all annual software maintenance renewals & proposals in defined territory.
  • Maintain personal knowledge and skill levels with dataPARC products, and advantages over the competition.
  • Expedite resolution of key customer complaints and problems.
  • Effectively use the available internal resources available in marketing, engineering, sales management and technical support to meet the candidates' individual business goals.
  • Utilize CRM for managing customers, leads, opportunities and forecasting.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • A basic knowledge of application development in an object-oriented programming language such as Visual Basic, Visual C++ or Visual Basic Net
  • Demonstrated knowledge, interest and skill in the use of Information Technology within the process industry domain, typically derived from employment or consulting
  • IT Skills consisting of a basic knowledge of operating systems, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Windows and knowledge of a programming language
  • Mobility is mandatory, given that the travel customer sites will be required, about 50% of the time
  • Essential traits for success are those of being a self-directed, well-organized, driven, autonomous type of individual.
  • Strong communication (written, verbal and listening) skills, personal tact and diplomacy, and excellent problem solving skills are mandatory.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge of dataPARC or PARCview system a plus

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • BS, MS or PhD in Engineering (Chemical Preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an operational or engineering capacity for industrial processes or working for a process information software vendor (such as OSIsoft, Aspen Tech, etc.).
  • Experience working with process historian and data visualization software packages such as OSIsoft’s PI, AspenTech’s IP.21, Honeywell PHD, Siemens XHQ or Capstone’s PARCview.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Frequent travel; international travel possible

Project Implementation Engineer (dataPARC)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Project Implementation Engineer executes engineering/software install projects for a large variety of clients across a broad spectrum of industries. Duties involve installing and configuring software for new and existing customers, as well as managing and executing engineering projects for new and existing clients. This position will also travel on site to configure software, conduct training and work on customer-specific engineering tasks.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with the customer as a member of their team to aid in the utilization, design and use of the dataPARC software in their production environment.
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management and customer.
  • Train customers on use of software in production environment, on-site and remotely.
  • Lead planning and discussion meeting with customer to identify their process analysis needs and help customer execute projects to meet those needs.
  • Determines and develops project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
  • Act as the ‘voice of the customer’ with internal development team to advise on product direction.
  • Manage multiple projects with different customers, while meeting project goals and timelines.
  • Provides timely engineering solutions to problems associated with project assignments.
  • Develops or assists with the development of project schedules by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.

Software Support Specialist (dataPARC)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Software Support Specialist position develops customer satisfaction and loyalty by resolving a wide variety of customer issues and/or customer education inquiries. Must master and implement the dataPARC line of products. Must be skilled at troubleshooting Microsoft client/server software and network related issues. Works well with internal team as well as external organizations to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. Must be able to proactively interact with department to identify and resolve customer focused issues. Must be self-motivated and able to absorb and share information to internal team as well as customer base. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Interact directly with customers, vendors, and resellers via telephone and e-mail.
  • Create and manage cases and work to resolution.
  • Understand product functionality to drive customer-based solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong empathy for customer concerns.
  • Product testing and bug reporting. Work to create testing environments and simulations.
  • Provide customer training covering product line & customization options.
  • Detailed time tracking for internal and client billing and project management.
  • Ability to handle multiple client calls and e-mails, escalating when needed.
  • Work escalated issues & requests as assigned.
