GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Project Implementation Engineer will be responsible for implementing customer projects throughout Japan and the ASPAC region. Duties involve installing and configuring dataPARC software for new and existing customers. This position will require travel to customers’ sites to configure software, conduct training, and work on customer-specific dataPARC implementation tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement dataPARC projects in close collaboration with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Achieve excellent customer satisfaction on projects.
- Execute projects efficiently through effective project engineering. Meet project schedule and deadlines by managing the defined scope, monitoring project progress, coordinating project tasks, and resolving problems.
- Lead system integration planning and coordination with the customer and third parties.
- Train customers (Operators, Engineers, Management) in the use of software in their production environment on-site, and remotely.
- Participate in dataPARC software testing and quality assurance. Document findings and participate in QA reviews.
- Available to travel up to 50% of time.
- Prioritizes routine work, respects schedule of others, flexible in response to changing environment.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Japanese fluency required.
- Knowledge of the dataPARC or other Process Information Management Systems (PIMS).
- Background in continuous process manufacturing, process analysis, quality management, and production management.
- IT and database skills with a solid understanding of operating systems, industrial networks and communication protocols, Microsoft Windows Server and Windows 11, and MS SQL Server.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and VBA.
- Advanced knowledge of application development in an object-oriented programming language such as Visual Basic .NET an asset.
- Basic automation and controls experience, including systems integration and OPC UA.
- Project Management experience
- Strong attention to detail and follow through
- Ability to use appropriate independent judgment to make decisions
- Ability to learn and apply organization policy and procedure
- Highly self-motivated and directed
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Automation, or Information Systems.
- Minimum 2 years experience working in an operational or engineering capacity.
- Software development experience.
- Process operations, engineering or maintenance experience an asset.
- Firsthand experience with competitor process historian and data visualization software packages such as Aveva PI, Honeywell PHD, Yokogawa Exaquantum, Siemens XHQ, GE Proficy, MOPS, BrainCube, Wedge.
- Experience with modelling and statistical software & languages such as Minitab, MATLAB, R or Python an asset.
